Trouble-shooting term paper blues

The first step that begins the journey of a thousand miles is more commonly the hardest. This little deviation from the common idiom is mostly true and is very applicable to writing term papers as well. Depending on the preferred destination (or expected grade), the direction (or topic) is most important long before the decision to take the first step is even considered.

Another important consideration is the use of relevant resources which can supplement us during the arduous trek to the finish line (or academic fulfillment). Recalling the experiences, knowledge gained and sharing of ideas should also be done in a manner that gives due credit where credit is due.

But these are just the basics of writing term papers. You may trouble-shoot your journey of writing term papers using the below mentioned examples of what to-do and not-to-do:

  • When choosing a topic ensure that it is something that you are familiar with and can talk about and/or communicate easily. If this is not so, conducting the relevant research to bring you up to par will surely pave the way for an easy ride. If this is not possible the topic you have chosen is either too advanced for you or you need to reevaluate your choice of preferred academic courses.

  • Research. Research. Research. Know your topic inside out. Identify all the relevant sources by doing a quick online search and then camp out at your local library if need be. You have to have access to the right information without which you might as well not try to put in the effort.

  • Follow the right format prescribed for your particular assignment. If none is assigned go with the safest which is double spaced, Times New Roman font, font-size 12 and 1 inch margins on both sides.

  • Use the right reference/citation style for your term paper. If none is assigned, go with the safest: MLA for language/literature related courses and APA for science related subjects.

On a serious note, however daunting a particular task may seem, do not lose hope and do your best. If you do not get the grade you expected there is something you are not doing right. With timely practice and a little more effort you will definitely achieve the grade you want. We wish you the best.
